VIEW LUSH BELFAST’S FACEBOOK HERE

Last week thanks to the amazing being who is Megan I was lucky enough to be able to attend Lush Belfast’s first ever blogger event. Now unless you were born under a rock and don’t know who or what Lush is I am going to presume that we are all aware of LushLush has been easily one of my favourite shops since I was a kid, I remember saving my pocket money to go in and get a couple of bath bombs and even now at 23 years old I love nothing more than treating myself to a Lush bath after a long day at work. So I was so incredibly excited to be able to go and find out more behind the brand.

#SQUADGOALS aka the Fab Lush Belfast staff. The staff on the night were amazing and talked us through all of the products and how to properly use each item. That’s one thing I have always loved about the in store experience from Lush the staff everywhere I have been are just so helpful and friendly.

Definitely my favourite part of the night was getting to actually make up our own batch of my all time favourite Lush product, Angels on bare skin cleanser. I have used it for years as I find it works brilliantly on my very sensitive skin. What I loved was just how few products were used to make the cleanser and you got to see exactly what goes into it, no nasty chemical rubbish the ingredients are all fresh!

13219901_10207719910328442_1000437887_n

We also got to be some of the first people to see the new Fathers day range which launched in store the next day! The smugglers soul face scrub is my highlight from the range, makes my skin feel incredible. We also got to see the Lava Lamp bath bomb launch, very citrus inspired smell which is perfect for the Spring time!

Another Lovely part of the night was getting to meet alot of new faces ( new to me but believe me they are all blogger pros!) I have to give an extra special shout-out to Sera from Style guide Blog who I have been chatting to online for years and haven’t met until now! You know when you just feel like you have always known someone well I feel like I have always known Sera and was so so happy to final get to meet her.

Beauty Minute: Natural Collection Lipsticks

Beauty, Fashion, Gingersnapsvintage, Haul, inspirations, Make-up

IMG_5660

So I decided to keep things short and sweet today, I wanted to talk to you guys about my latest beauty obsession, natural collection. I am still remembering being about 14 and using my pocket money to buy natural collection eyeliners and eye shadows because at the time it was all I could afford. Fast forward several years and I cant remember exactly who but I watched a video where someone was praising natural collections range of brown toned lipsticks and not being one to want to invest big money into beauty trends I thought these were the perfect way to do it.

IMG_5662

The four colours I have picked up are:

IMG_5666

Heather- a very shimmery light brown which when applied is more subtle a brown hue than the other colours.

IMG_5667

Biscuit- a your lips but better light browny nude pink shade

IMG_5671

Cedar-  a medium brown tone, great if you are a bit scared to go all out brown with your lip colour

IMG_5668

Hazelnut- my personal favourite a very true orange tone brown shade which I love against my hair colour at the minute

IMG_5627

Cedar on the lips

Overall I am really impressed with these lip colours for the bargain price of £1.99 each they are a great way to try brown lipsticks without having to pay alot of money incase you don’t like the look on you. They are not the most long lasting colours however I put one coat of Lipcote over the top and they then last at least 6 hours or more without any fade or change in colour. I would definitely recommend that if you are wanting to try a brown tone colour.

Hope you guys found this a little bit helpful

The Stitch Launch Party

IMG_5523

On Thursday night I was invited to attend the launch of the new brain child from the founders of Mr and Mrs Stitch called ” The Stitch”. The concept behind the stitch is a blog/journal space dedicated to promote the brands sold on the web store but to also produce content which can inspire and interest a much wider base. I was lucky enough to be able to attend the event with my latest blogging bestest Megan from Vent // Threads

IMG_5548

Find Megan Here Here and Here

So back to the stitch, basically if you are from Belfast you would probably be familiar with the shops in Wellington Place just down from city hall called Rio Brazil, well Mr and Mrs Stitch is the on-line version of the stores, do you get it? So the Stitch journal is just being launched and is online HERE if you guys want to have a browse. The store itself if mostly high end designers, so perfect if you are looking for an item that you aren’t going to find anywhere else.

The event was held in their beautiful new office based also in the city centre and rather conveniently just across the road from the Rio Brazil stores. The lovely folks from Chinawhite ( one of Belfast’s hottest newest nightclubs) provided delicious cocktails for the guests whilst we talked with the owners of the brand as well as shop assistants, finding out all about the shop and the online blog. What I loved about the event was just how relaxed the whole thing was, I was able to have a good catch up with friends that I haven’t seen in months and just have a lovely relaxed time, it was held on the day of my sisters formal and I had been on the go since 9am so it was nice to have a bit of chill time in great company. During the night we got to go through the rails and style up an outfit from their newest drop of stock so when the images are online I will insert my attempt into the post.

I just wanted to say a massive thank-you to the team at The Stitch for a lovely relaxed enjoyable event, especially Laurina who kindly organised the invites. I am hoping to pair up with The Stitch in the coming months so keep you eyes peeled for that!

Until Next time… T-j Xo

Last Tuesday morning I was lucky enough to be invited to the Next press launch of the Next day delivery service in Northern Ireland. I don’t know about you guys but nothing annoys me more when websites promise next day delivery at an additional charge but because we are in Northern Ireland and not mainland UK it never is next day. Well finally a retailer has heard this and Next have launched a service which means that even if you order right up until 10pm the night before you will still receive the item the next day.

Unfortunately my lovely fancy camera is sadly broken at the minute I have had to make do with phone photos which aren’t my favourite way of showing you guys an event but needs must. The even was held in the beautiful surroundings of Robinson and Cleaver . In a change from the usual event which are held at the evening Next switched it up and put on a breakfast event which allowed a lot more people to attend because you could run by on your commute to work or in my case on route to an In Magazine cover shoot.

Just some of the amazing food we got at the event, The salmon and mini ulster frys where definitely my favourites, alongside the mango and honey smoothies.

A sneaky wee picture of Ruth from Welcometowillowlane eyeing up the Christmas decorations that adorned the tables. They had put out a selection of new Autumn Winter garments and accessories for us to browse and I have to say I am so impressed with what will be hitting the stores in the next few weeks.

As part of the event Next very kindly gave us a lovely goodie bag which contained a voucher, a watch and some lovely Christmas decorations. I was lucky enough that my watch matches my Argento Lapis blue bracelet and I have been wearing the pair all week without fail, I am a sucker for mixing metals

A massive thank you to the team at next who took such great care of us and made the event so lovely and relaxing

Belfast Fashion Week A/W 14: #selfiegameisstrong

Quick Warning: This is going to be a very picture heavy post so you have been warned!

I have been a part of the backstage crew for the last eight seasons, I have seen it go from strength to strength and I have to say hands down this season has been one of my favourites so far. We were based in the Life church venue on Bruce street in Belfast city centre. This proved to be a great centralised location and meant that any issues that arose with security tags being left on etc. could be resolved in a matter of minutes. The location itself was very beautiful indeed with everything from amazing quirky jam jars lights to chair used as shelves nailed to the walls. The space really lent itself very well to hosting a fashion show and gave retailers a  great shop the show space outside the main catwalk area. 10722530_10203790523296222_1187422553_o

My involvement with fashion week started on Wednesday morning when I went on over to castlecourt to help out John Gerard (  @astylistsopinion on Instagram) to put together and finish pulling the castlecourt rounds for Saturday nights high street showcase. We where based out of an old unit in the centre which made our jobs so much easier because a lot of time has to go into organising clothes depending on model sizing and also what category’s we wanted to show E.g. head to toes glitz and winter garden greens. I had a lot of fun helping out as I have worked with castlecourt since the beginning of my volunteering days just over three years ago. Yes it is very stressful because we had 15 models, plus-size, men’s and children’s to put together and organise but when you see the looks hit the runway it is all totally worth all the time and effort you have put in.

Wednesday the 15th of October marked the official first night of A/W 14 at BFW it started with a charity screening of mean girls for the pretty in pink charity. The runway shows began on Thursday night with Excel clothing  showcase.  Excel is a company that I have to be honest I hadn’t heard of prior to the show but after a bit of research and seeing the amazing array of outfits on Thursday night it is definitely a brand that I would look to in the future, they stock everything from Vivienne Westwood to Belstaff and everything in-between. 10678001_10203790722381199_194600837_o

During fashion week my primary role is as a dresser which means I work with a model to help them with their changes between each round, on Thursday I was working with the male models ( tough job but someone has to do it right!) I was paired up with Piaras who you might remember I worked with last season. We had 6 looks which included some amazing pieces from Armani and Hugo Boss but the jacket above with the built in sunglasses had to be my personal favourite look.

10732332_10203791228753858_1313408229_o

Probably the best bit of Thursday night and one of the best moments from the whole event was getting to me my idol aka HelenMelon aka Melon lady at the Excel showcase. Excel clothing had brought over Helen and Kavita ( who unfortunately I didn’t get a picture with) to see the showcase and also experience Belfast. I have been watching Helen on YouTube for years now and as soon as I saw her post on Instagram that she was coming to the show not going to lie I freaked out. It was so surreal and I know I bored the life out of everyone around me but I made it my nights goal to at least say hello. Helen was just so lovely even though I was a wee bit shaky around her she was lovely and agreed to a quick picture before the show. It still feels so surreal as I have been watching her for so long but if anyone is reading this THANK YOU excel for bringing the girls over for the show.

Another favourite Selfie from the week ( can you see a trend forming) is the first night I got reunited with my Partner in crime Rosanna AKA Silver Brogues . Rosanna and I have been working together since she started assisting at fashion week 3 season ago even though both of us agree it feels like so much longer. But you will see more of Rosanna throughout this post.

Friday night was local designers and Boutiques night and I was paired up with the stunning Mairead who again you should recognise if you saw my last seasons posts. This is probably one of my favourite nights because I love so many local designers, some highlights being Julia Sokele and Kate Wilson

Bye bye Summer, I have Fall-en for another

Beauty, Fashion, Haul, Plus size, Shopping, Wishlist

I admit defeat, I was wrong I tried to hold on to summer. I like the rest of Northern Ireland have been clasping onto the idea that we would get a second wind of summer but alas one week before the start of September I will admit defeat. However despite being in a certain degree of mourning for the loss of summer I am getting so excited for Fall and Winter. I have a slight obsession with layering and scarves not helped at all by the fact the in work at the minute we are getting all our big deliveries of fall and winter goodies ( I work in a clothing and accessory shop) I have already bought myself three new incredible blanket scarves in the last couple of weeks alone!

Now myself and the rest of Northern Ireland will be packing away summer in the next few weeks and bringing down the winter woollies, I already have my gorgeous wool coats of out storage.  Going through my wardrobe I have noticed a few gaps for key pieces that would work right the way through the winter, so I decided to have a look online at some of my favourite stores to find some new wardrobe updates. Another factor in influencing this move was attending the Belfast Fashion Week launch event last Thursday.

926571_1504727756434569_1473313795_a 10616975_714968035219473_1377941784_a

The event was held in the Life church venue in town, probably one of the coolest venues I have seen used for BFW, we where talked through some of the key looks as well as the full running order for fashion week, I am so excited to get to see all the looks pulled together in the upcoming months!

So after this my fate was sealed and I dived head first into online “window” shopping for some new wardrobe updates.

image1xxl

Probably already a staple in most peoples wardrobes I have been after a leather jacket for probably the last couple of years at least, one of my favourites that I have come across is this ASOS curve textured version that can be found here:  http://www.asos.com/ASOS-Curve/ASOS-CURVE-Biker-With-Zip-Detail/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4084090

image4xxl

Sticking to the layering idea another piece which I have seen become a huge trend is the long line or maxi cardigan. This is a great layering piece and would look just as well under the leather jacket as it would teamed with a duster coat: http://www.asos.com/ASOS-Curve/ASOS-CURVE-Exclusive-Maxi-Cardigan-In-Jersey/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4519036&cid=9577&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Black

image1xl (3) image1xxl (1)

These New Look joggers available in Black and Leopard are another great way to do a relaxed sports luxxe look: http://www.asos.com/New-Look-Inspire/New-Look-Inspire-Animal-Print-Jogger/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4360402&cid=9577&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Multi

16L10RBLK_large

These Evans statement trousers are probably one of my favourite things I have discovered the monochrome colour scheme keeps them from being too much for the colder months but still when your buried under a giant scarf and coat combo they would add a fashiony edge: http://www.evans.co.uk/en/evuk/product/clothing-250468/view-all-clothing-1880780/evans-black-white-aztec-jersey-trouser-3248678?bi=1&ps=200

321420001

And to finish the looks I found New Look who are one of my favourite high street shoe retailers for their super speedy takes on expensive shoes have copied the Nike Roshe Runs for only £19.99 http://www.newlook.com/shop/shoe-gallery/view-all-shoes/black-textured-trainers-_321420001

As you can see I focused on trousers and jackets because you will be hidden under so many layers that tops wont be seen

What are you guys looking to add to your Autumn Wardrobes, let me know in the comments!

Make-up: Why I hate it and what I use

Beauty, Fashion, Make-up

When I was about 15 I discovered the YouTube beauty community, for the next couple of years I devoted my time, efforts and spare money ( I got a job at 16 to fund my habits) to amassing as much make up as I could possibly own. I work in a fashion retailer which requires me to have a different outfit each month as my uniform. I saw this as my opportunity to match my make up with the outfit, I have vivid nightmares about a green and blue maxi dress which I totally thought went perfectly with blue eyeshadow and green eyeliner MEGA CRINGE!

This went on till I was about 17 and kind of gave up with make-up spare cash now began to help enhance my shoe collection ( which is still growing to this day) At this point I discovered liquid eyeliner which has now become my signature, now I am still not great at matching my eyes but I have hooded eyes so only I notice if they are uneven. Ever since I have cut back my make-up collection, finishing up Urban decay eyeliners, throwing out sleek eye palettes and realising that I didn’t need to be collecting lipsticks that I would never actually wear.

Quick Rant:

I think today’s social media generation, specifically girls watching beauty YouTubers needs to be shown that there is more to life than having expensive make-up one quick YouTube search will call up alot of very young girls who have this perception that they need to be in a full face of make-up. For me up until about 16 I didn’t wear anything other than eyeshadows and mascara and of course a tonne of black eyeliner ( I was a scene kid at this time)

74421_1613213762917_997215_n

Yes this is indeed 15 year old me, oh dear lord. But going back to my point I YouTube searched a particular foundation range which has been very popular and I discover hundreds of videos of young girls with great skin applying heavy duty foundations because a certain Youtuber has done a review stating that they need this. It breaks my heart a little bit that these girls think that they need to use such expensive, heavy make-up in order to fit in but I think I will save the rest of this rant for a separate post I am planning.

1947602_10202181285186275_561637596_n

Now at the age of 20 almost 21 ( 22nd March and I am terrified) make-up now for me is just as little as I can get away with. I will only put on make-up if I am going to work or college except for eyebrows, you know the way they say eyebrows are sisters not twins well my eyebrows are second cousins twice removed.  I have a bit of an obsession with highlighters which probably makes me look like a Christmas fairy most of the time but if I could share one thing I have learned:

Make-up is for Me , It is to make me happy I don’t wear it for others so If I want to be as glowy as a Mermaid that’s ok. If I want to make my eyebrows look like baby caterpillars this is also ok. If I want to leave the house blemishes showing with a bit of lip balm then this is also ok. I don’t need to care how others perceive me as long as I am happy.

With that being said my most comfortable is with some foundation, eyeliner and highlighter and this is what I use:

1947602_10202181285186275_561637596_n

My entire face in one image 🙂

1922796_10202184744312751_1361103989_n

Mum is a bit of a QVC addict and so through this we have both discovered Laura Geller so for my foundation I use a mix of Rimmel Match perfection ( one of the few true pale highstreet foundations) I then use a bit of the Laura Geller powder foundation to set my forehead and chin, or if I am being lazy I will only use the Laura Geller.

1964732_10202184748912866_1185486342_n 1961544_10202184745792788_1238379375_n

For blusher I don’t really use alot but I do use another Laura Geller product, Brulee apple blusher from their latest today’s special value from QVC. It is a mix of pink tones, brown tones and glowlyness which transforms into a lovely coral colour on my cheeks. I also use the French Vanilla highlighter from the first TSV Laura Geller set I got at Christmas. It has a bit of a yellow tone but on my skin it just gives a natural glowlyness.

1957467_10202184746952817_56634097_n 1922587_10202184746232799_800217110_n

Eyes are last and I usually begin by putting a light brown or pinky colour all over my eye to help the eyeliner stay in place. At the minute I love the seventeen cosmetics tattoo me eyeliner because once it is on that is it , it wont go anywhere unless I use a oil-based eye make-up remover. I love Rimmel pro eye brown pencils because like I said I have awful eyebrows that take alot of effort to tame and the pencil allows me to achieve this very quickly.

1927105_10202166056805575_240032915_n 1655004_10202154141067689_1732460567_n

And that’s it , I hope you can tell it never really looks like I am wearing alot of make-up but it is enough for me , I get up at six in the morning and spending hours getting ready isn’t an option.

I hope this post was interesting I am sorry it’s very long but I am going to start up a series for my mini rants so that they don’t take up so much room on other posts, if you would like this let me know and please if you have a topic or opinion on something that you want me to talk about let me know xx
